Gail, I 'm glad that you are able to gain something from my comments.
We have just a few more months left of no cost extension funding and it
is disconcerting. There is the temptation that some in our
administration are falling prey to that K-5 science has had more than
its share of funding for professional development over the past 7 years
and therefore is strong enough to maintain itself without any more
support for professional development. So we are wondering if we will
see the learning and growth in our teachers begin to gradually erode or
if it is solid enough to weather this period. We are continuing to
look for external funding but it is difficult with the present economy.
