subject: Reinforcing conceptual understanding through graphic organizers
Graphic organizers play an integral part in our professional
development as we review instructional materials. Our graphic
organizers are designed to help support conceptual understanding as
well as supporting literacy connections while reinforcing highlighted
as well as academic language. The graphic organizers have been
designed to go to specific FOSS modules. The graphics are taken from
the modules themselves to help students make connections to the
activities they are doing in class and what they are learning.
Teachers are given time to create the graphic organizers during the
"make it take it" part of our professional development. To see digital
samples go to science.fresno.k12.ca.us on left column click on teacher
resources, then click on graphic org.
