Expository writing
|
In trying to meet competence in writing in the different genres,
quarterly writing samples are collected and scored. Science,
mathematics, and social studies content prompts have been created for
expository writing. At this point, these writing samples are only
scored to meet the language arts standards and not the specific
content. The goal is to see if children are meeting competency in
writing. The prompts for science writing were aligned to specific grade
level standards. In creating these prompts, the team looked at the
adopted standards based science curriculum.
