subject: The Higher Ed Connection and Teacher Prep
Ben,

I am not sure that I agree with you about the effects of the LSCs on
colleges and universities. In many of the LSCs, especially those in
science, the higher education connection was with faculty from the
subject matter disciplines. Though this was certainly a strength, it
meant that the teacher preparation programs in those same institutions
could continue to be unaffected by the initiative going on in their own
backyard. I agree with Mark about many of the legacies of the LSCs but
am sorry that so many newly prepared teachers are starting off so far
behind. - Susan
