subject: Building Trust
I find so much of my work as a mentor/coach involves building trust. I
do not report directly to the principal. That helps so much. I do
solicit their help in difficult situations- looking always for an entry
point.

I tend to not come in first to observe, but rather to model. Then I
ease into observe. It is critical to debrief somehow. I always ask:
"What is it you want to be better at?" "what went well today? , and
how can I best support you?" As trust develops, I can sometimes gently
guide a teacher in a direction I wish them to go.

I try the collaborative method first- how can we figure this out
together?

Sincerely,
Kathy
