Competing for Funds
|
The $64,000 question! All this translates into money, money that is being cut from our budgets at an alarming rate. I know our TAPESTRIES program is in the current budget proposal, as our value has been proven in our district, BUT it remains to be seen if the school board will pass it. One of the ways we are negotiating to preserve this vision is by integrating our initiative with the “competing initiatives” that are vying for the same shrinking funds. As our state moves toward standards-based education, we feel we have a foot in the door with our professional development program. By presenting this to our school board curriculum committee along with our progress in improving student learning has given us a slight edge in keeping us in the budget for the upcoming year.
