credibility

Establishing credibility has been something that I have found to be important in establishing my identity as a teacher leader. I did so in two ways. First, I had lots of training. Others knew that I had been to tons of classes and workshops. So, they infered that I was knowledgable. Second, I have stayed in the classroom. I am a half time teacher and a half time teacher leader. Half of my day is spent in my own classroom teaching students. I have found this model to be extremely beneficial. It helped add to my credibility. Teachers could see that I was applying the knowledge that I had acquired in all of my training. Teachers knew that I was experiencing many of the same challenges that they were. Lastly, being in the classroom means that I can readily think of specific examples to the question, "What would like that look like in the classroom?"
