Core capacities?
|
Kathryn... your message makes me think that maybe we should all work together to identify the core capacities needed to sustain an ongoing effort to improvement science education... That is, in tough times, it may not be possible to get all the supports that were offered by the full funding of the LSC... But what then are the critical capacities the district should maintain to keep alive the capacity for improvement, if not all of the curricular implementation that happened during the LSC... Is it a science coordinator? one or two resource teachers (teachers on special assignment)... some support for teachers who want to continue their own development... support for the materials center???
What are the minimum, key, or critical capacities and forms of support we should be seeking to maintain an improvement effort in the domain the LSC worked in?
I think this is really important...We need to be able to say... OK we realize you can not support the program fully, but it is really important to find funds to continue x,y,z... now what are the x's y's and z's that are most important????
