How true your comments are in regards to curriculum being a script for teachers to follow (especially in California). In our work with teachers in developing content knowledge we are finding it difficult for teachers to look at what is the Big Mathematical idea and meld that with our current curriculums. We know we are having a modicum of success in that we are seeing more class discussions. We also use Lenses on Learning and are finding our administrators want teachers to move more quickly into a role that many teachers are not comfortable given the types of curriculum we use. Your poster presentation especially your suggestions were very poignant given the state of mathematics in California
