    Leadership and Capacity Building

    Administrators need professional development that is designed specifically for those in leadership positions. Courses such as EDC's Lenses on Learning provide an important avenue for principals and curriculum coordinators to network and discuss issues around supervising the teaching and learning of mathematics. Teacher leader training is also critical to sustaining the efforts of a project. The focus of this training needs to be on "what to facilitate" as well as "how to facilitate".

  • Baseline Data

    An initial audit with schools can provide the information needed to develop greater local ownership for assessing growth in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in addition to improved student performance. The information is also helpful in designing appropriate professional development opportunities to successfully move the staff through the described "levels of implementation".
